Gerald Marks is Founder, President and General Manager of Custom Environmental Services, Inc. (CES), covering Colorado’s Front Range and the Rocky Mountain Region.  As President and General Manager, Mr. Marks supervises a multi-disciplinary staff of 60, reviews and approves budgets and forecasts, manages the safety program and oversees business development and marketing of the company’s environmental services.  Mr. Marks evaluates prospective projects for bid, approves estimates and proposals, and has an excellent record in client satisfaction, project management, team building, business management, expert witness testimony, and scheduling/resources management.

With more than 19 years of experience in health/safety and project management, Mr. Marks has specific expertise in detonation of shock sensitive materials for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA.)  He also has expertise in hazardous material emergency response, facility demolition and decontamination, underground storage tank (UST) removal and reimbursement, and report preparation. 

Prior to founding CES, Mr. Marks served as a project manager for numerous nationwide clients providing business development, emergency response in transportation incidents and training for public/private sectors.  Mr. Marks has managed more than 1,250 hazardous incidents while developing strong relationships and partnerships with clients, regulatory agencies and responders.

Mr. Marks has a degree in Business Administration from Metro State College in Denver and is a US EPA Certified Response Manager.  The youngest firefighter to reach the rank of captain in the Arvada County Fire Department, Mr. Marks continues as a volunteer firefighter today.  He is also former chair of the Rocky Mountain Hazardous Materials Association (1999, 2000.)  His other certifications and training are:  OSHA Supervisor Training and OSHA Confined Space, State Firefighter, Incident Command, Lead Compliance, Technical Level III, and First Aid and CPR.
